Renewal Date: Every two years by the end of the month in which the license was initially issued
Hours required: 15 MCE hours
Six (6) of the MCE hours must in required topics (3 hours in the TREC Legal Update and 3 hours in the TREC Ethics). The TREC Ethics course also meets the NAR QUADRENNIAL requirement!
Please Note: Licensed Salespersons who applied on or after January 1, 2006 are required to have completed 270 core real estate (Salesperson Annual Education (SAE)) and related classroom hours by the end of the first year of licensure (210 hours of which were already completed before application for license). The CE Shop approved MCE courses do not meet the SAE requirement.
There is a new 6-hour "Broker Responsibility" MCE course that will be required for renewals of certain sponsoring broker and supervisory sales licensees AFTER September 1, 2012. The course is yet to be completed by TREC before it can be offered by providers.
CE Shop Offering: 15 MCE hours
Reporting: Real estate course completions are recorded with the Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC) each business day. It may take 1-2 weeks from the time we report your hours before the Commission updates your license and/or updates their website with the hours.
Max hours in 24 hr period: Per TREC: Effective 9/01/07, an MCE online course cannot be completed in less than 24 hours. This will seriously affect those licensees who wait until the last day of their renewal period to take and complete an MCE course to renew their license.
Expiration date of course: Courses expire one year after the order date.
Final Exams: Final exams must be passed with a 75% and may be taken as many times as necessary in order to pass.
Certificates: Immediately upon real estate course completion, The CE Shop will provide students with an electronic copy of the course Certificate of Completion. Certificates will remain in your account for a minimum of five (5) years, should you need additional copies at a later time. Please refer to your renewal application to determine if you need to submit your Certificate(s) of Completion with your renewal.
